Pilot's guide to the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt.
The historic significance aside, this is one of the coolest "three-reeler" instructional movies I have ever seen. As a kid in the 1960s-1970s I (and my brother) built just about every Revell model kit of the aircraft--both fighter and bomber--produced for the United States Army Air Corps and Navy during World War II. Through this trilogy of films one gets to go through "pilot training", gaining a basic knowledge of the P-47's mechanical layout in addition to cockpit controls as well as proper handling of the plane while both on the ground and in the air. For this reviewer, truly great stuff.
Time to see what else is available for other aircraft of this era...

For Dad
My late father not only flew these planes, he was an aircraft mechanic and worked on them. He suffered for much of his life due to a service-related disability (DAV), but he always remembered fondly his P-47 Thunderbolts. I was proud to have him as my best friend for most of my life, and to be a caregiver for several years of his.

Amazing
It's a wonder anyone could learn to fly these things safely, especially in combat. Makes you appreciate the intelligence and skill of those who were able to do it.

Very Interesting
This is a very historically interesting film that our P-47 pilots back in World War II would have seen while training to become fighter pilots. After watching this you'll come to realize that the P-47 Thunderbolt was an amazing aircraft for its time. Very well made and informative.
